Throughout this expert's career he has performed research and developed highly innovative technologies.  From the beginning, this activity required in-depth assessment of the maturity of technologies and detailed planning of the development and infusion of those technologies.  Within the last decade he formalized the processes involved in technology maturity assessment, technology maturity advancement planning and technology infusion and became recognized as the Agency expert in those areas.

While working at a Nissan franchise, he was able to produce a "sting operation" that resulted in the arrest of customers involved in identity theft.  He has also worked with several national lending sources to procure financing and ensure credit quality to protect the credit quality of contracts.  The lending sources include "Captive Lenders" such as G.M.A.C., Toyota Motor Credit, Ford Motor Credit and numerous secondary lenders such as AmeriCredit.

This Ph.D. has broad experience in the integrated circuit industry ranging from developing semiconductor processes to serving as general manager of the US operations of a start-up IC memory company.  In recent years he has concentrated on consulting in the field of improving manufacturing operations in the IC industry and in the utilization of foundries by fabless companies.

His initial work in the semiconductor industry was developing specific processes for fabricating integrated circuits; later he supervised teams that developed many individual processes that were integrated together in a coherent manufacturing flow.  He also worked in wafer fabrication factories as an engineering manager and manufacturing manager, with the eventual responsibility of constructing and running the factories.  He has been responsible for product development and for quality and overall product manufacturing operations.

He is the Founding Director of the $ 40 million Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center that was awarded by the US National Science Foundation. This Ph.D. has been in the communications and computer engineering fields since the mid-1970s and engaged in standardization since the early 1980s in a variety of both expert and leadership roles.  He is active in various international standards educational and research initiatives including the biennial SIIT conference (Standardization and Innovation in IT)and an international journal on standards research.  He presently serves as Secretariat of ISO/IECJTC1 SC32 (Data Management and Interchange).

Within the area of embedded digital signal processing, this Ph.D. is interested in the design and VLSI development of reconfigurable processor architectures and their algorithm mapping for high-performance and low-power applications in mobile communications.  This technology can be used for 3G and 4G cellular phones, as well as other telecommunications systems.  In the area of computer graphics, he has been involved in the development of a new scheme for creating computer-generated three-dimensional models of a scene based on previously recorded images captured with a standard digital video camera. These models can be used for military and civilian simulator applications, as well as movie special effects.  In the area of low-power system design, he has developed a software tool for scheduling and planning mission tasks to achieve power and performance objectives. This technology is targeted for planetary missions of autonomous spacecraft as well as for unmanned military vehicles.

This Ph.D has over thirty-years of broad expertise in microbiology, anti-infectives and drug discovery.  He retired from his position as Senior Vice President of Anti-Infectives and Drug Discovery at GlaxoSmithKline ( GSK ), where he also served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Biopharmaceutical Research and Development. There he led the anti-infectives franchise that placed the company in a leading position in that area of research and played a key role in developing new formulations for Augmentin and Bactriban, a new quinolone antibiotic gemifloxacin ( Factive ) and the commercialized recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine, Engerix-B.

Previously, He spent 10 years at the National Institutes of Health, advancing to Section Chief in The Laboratory of Biochemistry at the National Cancer Institute. He was formerly a principal investigator for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and was awarded a grant to study biothreat pathogen countermeasures. He served as a member of the Food and Drug Administration Science Board for the past three years, and has been a member of the executive council for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He also serves on the editorial boards of numerous international scientific journals.

He has received several prestigious awards, including the Arthur S. This Ph.D is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Head of the Biothermal Technology Laboratory at a major University. His research is in the area of thermal sciences, with an emphasis on biomedical engineering. One of the thrust research areas at the Biothermal Technology Laboratory is cryosurgery, which is the destruction of undesired biological tissues by freezing. In order to gain better control over the cryoprocedure-thereby improving the outcome of the cryotreatment he has developed both devices and techniques for cryosurgery. He is currently leading an interdisciplinary research team focusing on improving the outcome of cryosurgery, where recent efforts are directed towards computerized planning of the cryoprocedure and computer-based training of the cryosurgeon.

He has developed a new area of research, combining mathematical modeling and experimental investigation of physical properties in cryogenic temperatures, in order to quantify the effects of thermo-mechanical stress resulting from freezing. Thermo-mechanical stress is one of the key effects in tissue injury, which is associated with both cryosurgery and cryopreservation. When the stress level becomes too high, structural damage occurs in the tissue at various levels, with fracture formation a frequently observed outcome. In cryosurgery, fracture formation may lead to excessive bleeding to the thermally-treated tissue, which may result in clinical complications. In cryopreservation, fracture formation may prevent the preserved tissue from recovering. In either application, fracture can develop at the micro and/or the macro levels.  He is leading an interdisciplinary research team, including experts from the fields of solid mechanics and cryobiology, to develop new models to describe thermal stress in glass-forming biomaterials, where glass formation ( also known as "vitrification" ) is an emerging alternative to classical cryopreservation.

This Expert Witness is an accomplished Electrical Engineer, technical consultant, inventor and U.S. patent agent focusing on U.S. patent preparation, prosecution, and litigation support.  Prior to starting his own firm, he was employed at AT&T Bell Labs in 1979 as a member of technical staff.  After a decade, he moved from development to join Bell Labs Research and stayed with the company as it changed from AT&T to Lucent to Agere Systems.  In 2002 he was awarded the CMTS (Consulting Member of Technical Staff).  He is the author of over 40 publications primarily in the area of high speed CMOS mixed signal designs and has been issued over 80 patents. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

This Expert Witness has prosecuted United States patent applications for numerous companies including LCTank, Orion Microelectronics, MetaMEMS and Wionics.  He also drafted applications for AT&T, Lucent and Agere.  He is registered to practice patent law before the USPTO (United State Patent and Trademark Office).  He has been providing prosecution service since June 2005.  In addition, he is serving on the litigation committees of the following two groups: American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

This Ph.D. has forty years of industry experience as a scientist, development engineer, corporate executive and consultant in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and fabrication processes.  His expertise extends beyond purely technical to include product marketing and strategic planning.  His wide range of experience includes work for the aerospace and semiconductor industries and as a legal consultant and testimonial witness.  He is widely published in the field of semiconductor process and equipment, with particular emphasis in CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition), silicon epitaxy, and plasma processing.

This Expert Witness is a Professional Engineer with 30 years of industry experience in the engine emissions reduction, alternative fuels and vehicle component industries.  He has taught automotive technology courses as an adjunct instructor at a New York City community college.  His career began at Pratt & Whitney Division of United Technologies Corp. and continued at Mechanical Technology Inc., where he was involved as a Project Manager for a NASA sponsored Automotive Stirling Engine (ASE) group.  He then moved to Deere & Co.’s Rotary Engine Division developing a large size, modular natural gas rotary engine for stationary uses.  While working fora Washington, DC based consultancy (EA Engineering and Technology), he was the onsite manager for several demonstration projects under the NYSERDA funded Alternative Fuel Vehicle – Fleet Demonstration Project gaining experience with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and alcohol facilities, vehicles and safety. He wrote a pamphlet “Garage Guidelines for Alternative Fuels” for NYSERDA that was adopted by the US Dept of Energy.  After forming his own consultancy, he worked as a team member with other consultancies on several alternative fuel/hybrid vehicle evaluations and on planning alternative fuel equipment for truck stops. More recently, he evaluated and selected tactics to reduce greenhouse gases for the Hunts Point, Bronx, NY local delivery fleets funded by a grant from the NYC DOT.  Currently, his firm is selling equipment for the truck industry that achieves these goals.
